eatbyle. (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a dining discovery and membership app. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.


1. Data We Collect

Account Information

  • Apple ID identity token (via Sign in with Apple). We never see your Apple ID password. You may choose to share or hide your email.
  • Display name and optional avatar you set in your profile.

Dining & Membership Data

  • Saved places, collections, and lists you create.
  • Deal redemptions, stamp card progress, and loyalty tier history.
  • Event bookings and guest details you provide.
  • Expense and receipt data you manually enter or scan (restaurant name, amount, date).
  • Taste profile preferences (cuisines, dining styles) you select during onboarding.

Device & Usage Data

  • A locally generated device identifier (stored on-device) used to sync your data.
  • App interactions used to improve recommendations (e.g. which places you view, your city selections). We do not use third-party analytics SDKs.

Location Data

  • Approximate location (when-in-use only) to show nearby places and deals. Location is never collected in the background. You can revoke access in iOS Settings at any time.

Camera

  • Camera access is used solely for scanning QR codes (loyalty rewards, staff verification). Photos and video are not stored or transmitted.

Notifications

  • Push notification tokens, used only to deliver notifications you opt into (deal alerts, event reminders, member updates).

Calendar

  • Write-only calendar access, used only to add confirmed event bookings to your calendar when you choose.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide and personalize the app experience (recommendations, nearby places, taste profile).
  • Process deal redemptions, stamp cards, and membership tiers.
  • Track spending and savings (only data you manually enter or scan).
  • Send notifications you opt into.
  • Improve app quality and fix issues.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.


3. On-Device Processing

Personalized greetings, monthly recaps, and taste profile summaries are generated on your device using Apple’s on-device intelligence. Your activity data does not leave your iPhone for these features.


4. Third-Party Services

We use a limited set of trusted third-party services to operate the app:

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.


5. Data Storage & Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption).
  • Backend data is stored in Supabase with row-level security policies.
  • Authentication tokens are stored securely on-device.
  • We do not store your Apple ID password or payment information.

6. Data Retention

  • Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
  • When you delete your account (Settings → Account → Delete Account), all personal data is permanently removed. There is no retention period.
  • Anonymized aggregate data (without personal identifiers) may be retained for service improvement.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data through the app.
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.
  • Control location, camera, notification, and calendar permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Export your data by contacting support.
  • Withdraw consent for optional features (location, notifications) at any time.

For users in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under the GDPR, including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.


8. Children’s Privacy

eatbyle. is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.


9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
